Description | This seminar is designed for Division III students studying
topics in all fields of the sciences and students finishing
Division II and preparing for Division III. The seminar will
provide a collaborative environment for students working on
independent projects. We will use a workshop format to generate
ideas, critically read each other's work and provide constructive
feedback and suggestions. Students will learn and practice skills
to communicate their work in a variety of formats to a variety of
audiences (including virtual and digital mediums). We will also
discuss presenting and analyzing data, writing abstracts, citing
sources, etc. Specific content will be dictated by student
interests. Each student will lead a discussion about their work
and provide background materials to inform the discussion
including primary research articles, writing excerpts from their
projects (reflective essays, Division III proposals, Division III
chapters, etc.). At the end of the semester, each student will
present their work and receive feedback from their peers. Keywords:Environmental science, science communication |
