Description | Geomorphology is the study of Earth's surface, its landforms, and the processes that shape landforms. In this course, students learned to recognize common landforms and gained a quantitative understanding of Earth surface processes. This course was designed as an introduction to Geomorphology, and for most students this semester it was also an introduction to geology in general. We studied basics like geologic time and plate tectonics, then focused on glacial, river, and coastal processes with the goal of understanding past and future landscape evolution. We investigated local landform features on fieldtrips and used maps, photographs, and satellite imagery to study landforms around the world. |
