Description | This course was an advanced seminar exploring a broad range of topics of interest to the collaborating disciplines of cognitive science. Each week, in a three-hour session, participants chose a paper (or set of papers) from the professional literature for the class to read and discuss. The topics we addressed included: consciousness, morality, human-animal interaction, multitasking and digital media, discourse analysis, linguistic relativity, gender identity, autism, stress, and the evolution of cognition. Students were expected to submit written responses to each of the readings and to each other's comments in an online discussion forum, and to write a final essay relating to the topic they introduced in the seminar or another topic of special interest to them. |
