Description

The students in this class worked collaboratively to design, develop, and publish a digital game in a single semester under the leadership and guidance of Professor Fay. Students were each assigned to a disciplinary team based on their interests, and they worked within that team throughout the term. Teams largely determined their own schedules and tasks, with students choosing their weekly assignments following an Agile methodology. Because of this, each student’s track through the course was unique. The game we created using Unity was a free casual puzzle game called Project IONA, available on iPhones, iPads, and Android phones. The game is somewhat like Tetris, but there is no gravity, and instead of making horizontal lines, players strive to make perfect 3x3 squares without any leftover blocks. The entire game is open source and available for educational, non-commercial use. More information is available at http://ProjectIONA.net.
