Description | Floods, droughts, and hurricanes have all been predicted to increase in response to climate change. How will these and other effects impact our access to freshwater? How will they affect populations in areas vulnerable to disasters? How will we adapt to these changing conditions? This class covered a brief introduction to historical climate variation and the science behind climate change predictions. We studied impacts of climate change on agriculture and talked with the Hampshire College farm CSA manager. We also covered topics related to drought and flooding. Students read and discussed primary literature, completed three case study projects, and participated in a mock climate summit negotiation. |
